The Blue Cottage B&B is located in 70 Mile House, BC with famous Green Lake close by.
Green Lake Provincial Park is the perfect place to enjoy hiking and bird watching. Keep an eye out for osprey, eagles, loons and ducks. Take a 1km interpretive hike starting at the Sunset View campground. There are 18 public access points to Green Lake for swimmers, boaters, windsurfers and water-skiers. Green Lake Provinicial Park is dotted with 121 campsites at 3 public boat loanches: Emerald Bay, Sunset View and Arrowhead. Green lake is located approximately 16km northeast of 70 Mile House. The lake is one of the largest water bodies in the southern part of the Cariboo Plateau and measures approximately 14km long with an average of 1.5km in width and a maximum depth of 36m.
Green Lake's unusual blue-green color is due to annual “whitings” that leave suspended mineral solids in its water. The mineral content of the water also makes the lake meromictic, which is quite rare and which has led to intense scientific study of the lake for nearly a century.
Access to Green Lake Provincial Park is approximately 16km northeast of 70 Mile House off Hwy #97 along North Bonaparte Road. There are 2 official public accesses to the lake : Little Arrow Head public access can be reached by car in approx 15 minutes and the Provicinal Park public access in approx 20 Minutes.
